Brymo Vs Choc City: Case To Get New Judge & Date As Presiding Judge Hands Off Case

Following the turn out of events during the ongoing court case hearing between singer, Brymo and his estranged label, Chocolate City, ERAVE can authoritatively report that the presiding judge, Justice Bubba Idris has hands off the case.

Sitting at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos earlier today, Justice Bubba dropped the case following the dissatisfaction expressed by Choc City’s legal counsel, T.O Lawal during the court session.
To ensure fairness, the court would announce a new date and a new judge to preside over the ongoing contract tussle afterwards.
At a court session which had both Choc City and Brymo’s legal teams present, the plaintiff and defendant all presented facts and evidences to back their claims in other to get to the end of the court case.
Chocolate City lawyer, T.O Lawal had stated during his presentation that Brymo began to have issues with the label, Chocolate City when the singer started promoting hard drugs on his social network accounts. ‘I want to put it to you that, one of the reasons you had problems with the plaintiff (Chocolate City) was because you were promoting hard drugs on your social network accounts’.
Lawal also stated that Choc City lost endorsement deals worth millions of naira due to Brymo’s conducts online. ‘I was made to understand by the record label that your conduct and promotion of hard drugs like Indian hemp made the record label to lose a potential N20M endorsement deal for you with a major telecommunication company’.
However, in responding to Lawal’s claims, Justice Bubba said ‘the plaintiff cannot have a problem with a singer promoting hard drugs because that is what they all do. We are all fans of Fela and Bob Marley, and they promoted these things’.
Speaking in court during his cross examination, Brymo who we gathered signed a 5 year contract with Choc City stated that in December 2012, he had a verbal agreement with Audu Maikori, CEO of Chocolate City to part ways with the label. ‘We had a discussion at Chocolate City’s office in Lekki in December 2012 and the CEO, Audu told me I can leave the label. I was not happy with how my career was being handled and we agreed to stop working together. He was to give me a document to that effect but he later changed his mind”, Brymo stated.
